15 MAY BLOG: Thursday & Saturday at Six Flags: Great America |
25 APRIL BLOG: Opening Weekend at Six Flags: Great America |
---|
Welcome to the roller coaster section of my blog! I plan to eventually post lots of my own experiences on roller coasters, my own designs, and any other cool information or resources I think everyone should know and have.
My home park is Six Flags Great America. Prior to 2024, I had only visited twice as a very young child and once more as a teenager, around 2008/2009. Luna Park is the only other coaster park I've visited in my lifetime. I blogged about that on my previous website and will eventually post it again here for anyone curious about my trip. I don't think I have new insight into the park, but, if you've never experienced it yourself, hopefully mine can inspire you! If I lived in NYC, I would visit Luna Park every weekend to get at least one ride on Cyclone, Thunderbolt, and Phoenix at Deno's Wonder Wheel & Amusement Park. I envy you New Yorkers!
I think Six Flags Great America is a fine park that falls a little short of great or epic. I generally have a decent time there whenever I visit because I enjoy being at parks and around awesome feats of experiential engineering. However, I think it falls short in a lot of ways. I'm hopeful that Cedar Fair can steer it in the right direction since they just purchased Six Flags. Everyone in the Midwest says Cedar Point is better (if only for the coasters) and I'm hoping to visit there next year. And maybe a few other parks!
I spend a lot of time playing Roller Coaster Tycoon and it's easily one of my favourite games. I streamed over on Twitch for a while but I don't particularly enjoy the Amazon in everything, so I stopped streaming on it. I'm hoping to make use of stream.place on the AT protocol. I set up a BlueSky account, so look for me on there! I'll post fun designs and engineering challenges from the simulator if I think anything makes for a cool story. I may end up using the more robust roller coaster design softwares (which aren't games!) and posting stuff like that here. It would be really cool to design a roller coaster that ends up being real in my lifetime. Otherwise, I'll maybe settle for designing a cool t-shirt. haha
